Representation and Party Competition

Wahlmodul 615251 · University of Zurich: Autumn 2019, Spring 2020

Wie unterscheiden sich Parteien inhaltlich, und erfüllen sie ihre Wahlversprechen? This German-language BA seminar, taught at the University of Zurich, gives a systematic introduction to the literature on party competition and representation.

The seminar defines and connects central concepts such as representation, responsiveness, party competition, election pledges, and diffusion, before examining the relationship between parties and voters and the extent to which party positions are shaped by diffusion processes, polling, and the strategies of other parties.
